How long should 35% teeth whitening gel be left on the teeth per session?

From reader ‘TexanByChoice’:

I’ve heard everything from 5 minutes to 20 minutes. Anyone out there know for sure? I know the 22% gel can even be left on overnight. Can’t seem to find any specifics on the 35% gel though. You dental techs out there — help!

take it 10 min at a time.. sometimes those gels make your teeth sensitive and uncomfortable. try 10 min the first time and the increase by 2 min or so everytime there after.. you will know what your teeth can handle… it is better to do whiten them slowly.. they didn’t get stained overnight..

Dont use the gels! I tried to whiten my teeth with the gel stuff a couple of years ago, and it gave me cavities. No joke. Three great big ones on my front teeth. I would recomend crest whitestrips, or just a whitening tooth paste. Please dont use the gel unless you plan on having very expensive dental bills.
